CELEBRATING LILI 10 YEAR'S OF WORKING IN MARIMO

This year, we’re celebrating a special milestone at Marimo and me personally as an entrepreneur. One of our team members, Lili, has reached 10 years working in Marimo, and She is the first to do so. For me, this is a true sign of loyalty and trust. I’m genuinely grateful and proud to work alongside people who grow with the company over the years, like Lili.

The story of how I hired Lili was a "in the right place at the right time" kind of story. She had just been laid off from her previous work place when I was in the busiest moments with my business. I was at a local fabric shop, chatting with the sales lady and telling her I have so much work that I’m thinking of hiring a seamstress. The lady had immediately an idea and recommended her friend - Lili.

Lili’s first project was a silk dress for my longtime friend and client – Hetlin. She had an event coming up and ordered a custom A-line teal dress with a cutout back. Here came the first challenge for Lili - she had not sewn silk before and if you don’t know, sewing silk is a special skill. So I gave her my knowledge and she practised and finally the result was absolutely beautiful! Hetlin wore this dress for many years later! Today Lili is absolutely masterful in sewing silk, I could give her any kind of silk and it will turn out perfectly. She has developed a delicate sense for working with silk.

A few months after Lili started, I had to go on a trip to the States, which lasted 2 weeks! Ten years ago the communication lines were not so easy, there was not wifi everywhere and it was also expensive. The time difference was also big, so it was quite the challenge to navigate the job without me there, and she succeeded!

And here we are, 10 years later. In the same spirit of togetherness, I’m also sharing moments from Marimo’s Christmas dinner where we also celebrated Lili’s work anniversary. Moments like these remind me how important it is to consciously build not only a brand, but a team, shared values, and traditions that grow stronger with time. We consciously hold our Christmas celebration in early January. December is a busy month for us and at the end of it we all collectively go on a break. This way everyone can fully enjoy the holiday season with their loved ones in December - without rushing or pressure. It works well for us!

Looking back on the years of work with Lili and the team I have today, I’m grateful for the people, the moments, and the journey we’re on together.

Warmly,

Mariliis
