LEADING BY EXAMPLE IN FASHION

As a fashion designer, I’ve always believed that clothing serves as a powerful medium for self-expression. However, I am deeply troubled by the unsustainable practices in the fast fashion industry. My mission is to contribute to a more responsible and mindful fashion industry by setting a positive example with my fashion brand.
At Marimo, our mission is to help women all around the world look and feel beautiful and confident by creating the most well-fitting and empowering quality garments and capsule wardrobes. Our core values include sustainability, customer-centric design, meticulous craftsmanship, zero-waste principles, fair wages, and in-house production.

Customer-Centric collection design principles

Customer feedback is one of the most inspiring aspects of our work. By listening to our customers' insights, we shape each new collection to meet their real needs and desires. Furthermore, our approach to designing collections at Marimo is similar to creating a capsule wardrobe. Each new collection is designed to seamlessly complement previous ones, allowing our customers to effortlessly integrate new pieces into their existing wardrobe. This customer-centric approach ensures thoughtful, intentional production, avoiding thoughtless manufacturing.

Thoughtful and needs-based production principles

We don't create a bunch of garments to hang on racks at our store. Instead, we follow a “made-to-order” principle. We release a collection twice a year with one sample of each design and focus on on-demand and made-to-measure production. This approach allows us to have a personal touch while working closely with each customer, considering every detail from cut and color to material. By selecting colors that complement the client’s skin tone and hair color, we enhance the wearability of each piece. We also encourage customers to consider their existing wardrobe when selecting new items, promoting mindful consumption through thoughtful design.

Craftmanship quality standards

We take pride in our in-house production, crafting every Marimo garment in our Atelier in Tallinn, ensuring precision and reducing excess fabric. We are committed to minimizing waste throughout our production process. In-house production by our seasoned tailors allows us to maintain the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship while ensuring that our zero-waste and ethical principles are upheld throughout the production process. Our knitwear line, produced in Italy, also adheres to these same high standards.

Fair wages and ethical practices

At Marimo, we believe in fair wages and ethical practices. We adhere to a 40-hour workweek schedule and ensure that all our employees are compensated fairly for their work. This commitment to fair wages is a cornerstone of our ethical approach to fashion, guaranteeing that every garment is crafted with care and respect for those who create it.

Our vision includes not only creating beautiful, high-quality garments but also fostering a community that values transparency, respect for workers, and consideration for the impact of our choices. I believe that fashion can be a force for good, driving positive change and promoting a more conscious way of living. As Marimo continues to grow, we remain dedicated to our core values and committed to leading by example, proving that style, ethics, and sustainability can coexist harmoniously. Together, we can build a more thoughtful, responsible fashion industry for the future.
